Code of Ethics
The public organization “Human Rights Laboratory” acts to protect, promote and uphold human rights in accordance with generally recognized international standards and principles and in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization. This code of ethics defines the moral and professional standards that the members of the organization adhere to in their activities.
1. General principles
1.1. Respect for human rights: All members of the organization are obliged to respect and promote the observance of human rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Ukraine, international treaties and declarations, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights.
1.2. Transparency and accountability: The organization undertakes to act transparently, openly and report to society on its activities.
1.3. Non-discrimination: We recognize the equality of all people regardless of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, ethnic or social origin, political beliefs, religion, disability or any other characteristics.
1.4. Impartiality: In its activities, the organization does not support any political party or ideology, remaining neutral in matters of political struggle.
2. Professional ethics
2.1. Competence: Members of the organization are obliged to constantly improve their qualifications, adhere to the highest professional standards in the field of human rights protection.
2.2. Confidentiality: All information obtained during activities that may harm the interests of individuals remains confidential, unless it violates the law or ethical standards.
2.3. Conflict of interest prevention: Members of the organization are obliged to avoid situations that may lead to a conflict of interest and to immediately report such cases to management.
2.4. Independence: All decisions of the organization are based on its values and mission, without the influence of external pressures, in particular political, financial or personal.
3. Ethical obligations in interaction with society
3.1. Respect for dignity: All activities of the organization are aimed at protecting human dignity and rights. We are obliged to avoid any form of humiliation or manipulation when working with people.
3.2. Partnership: The organization builds its relationships with other institutions, organizations and the public on the principles of respect, equality and cooperation.
3.3. Humanity: Members of the organization strive to act with understanding, empathy and respect for the individual needs and circumstances of the people with whom they interact.
4. Internal standards of conduct
4.1. Respect in the team: All members of the organization are obliged to adhere to the principles of tolerance, mutual respect, constructiveness and maintain a friendly atmosphere.
4.2. Responsibility for reputation: Each member of the organization must avoid actions that may harm the reputation of the “Laboratory of Human Rights”.
4.3. Mutual assistance: The organization encourages support and exchange of knowledge between its members in order to achieve common goals.
5. Responsibility for violation of the code of ethics
5.1. In case of violation of the norms of the code of ethics, a member of the organization may be held disciplinary liable in accordance with the internal rules of the organization.
5.2. Decisions on disciplinary measures are made by the ethics commission of the organization, which acts independently and objectively.
Final provision
The Code of Ethics of the “Laboratory of Human Rights” is the main document regulating the behavior of members of the organization. Compliance with its provisions is mandatory for each participant. We are convinced that working together on the principles of this code will allow us to effectively protect human rights and promote them in society.
